Before using the VIA Connect website, you have to accept the Privacy Policy for the Site. Please note the following:

  • The Privacy Policy determines how personal information is collected and processed to tailor interactions with you. Further, the Privacy Policy provides information on your rights.
  • VIA University college will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely.
  • Content posted or submitted by you and made available to other participants on the Site is not subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • Except as described in the privacy Policy, VIA University College may not disclose your personal information to third parties without your prior consent. VIA uses data processors to deliver the VIA Connect service, including data processors located outside of the EU/EES.

VIA Connect is provided by VIA University College, CVR-no. 30773047, Skejbyvej 1, 8240 Risskov, Denmark ("we" or "us") based on technology developed and managed by Chaordix, Inc. of Suite 313, 1240 - 20th Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta T2G 1M8, Canada ("Chaordix").

We take your privacy very seriously. This policy (together with our Terms of UseCookie Policy and any other documents referred to therein or herein) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.


1. Collection of personal information

1.1. The purpose of VIA Connect is to gather feedback and input from you about various topics and products. This feedback and input is used to improve the products, services and innovation processes of VIA University College and our partners/Challenge Sponsors. We collect the following types of personal information on VIA Connect: In general, it is voluntary to provide or submit information to VIA Connect. It is however mandatory to provide certain information, such as your name and a functional e-mail address, to join and use VIA Connect. Such mandatory requirements are indicated in the relevant forms and surveys. If you do not provide the mandatory information, you cannot join and use VIA Connect.

  1. Information that you provide when joining VIA Connect such as your name and contact information. You may also add other information to your member profile.
  2. Information that you provide on VIA Connect discussions and forums including posts, answers, votes and comments.
  3. Information that you provide in completing any VIA Connect surveys.
  4. Information relating to your use of VIA Connect. For example, when you visit VIA Connect, we may log certain information that your browser sends us, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access time, and referring website addresses.
  5. Information relating to the pages you view within our sites and other actions you take while visiting us. In addition, we may also use technologies to determine whether you've opened an e-mail or clicked on a link contained in an e-mail.

1.2 Collecting information in this manner allows us to operate VIA Connect and to collect statistics about VIA Connect usage and effectiveness and personalise your experience while you are on VIA Connect, as well as tailor our interactions with you.

1.3 The information that we collect, either directly or indirectly, may be combined to help us improve its overall accuracy and completeness and to help us better tailor our interactions with you.


2. Use of personal information

The following paragraphs describe in more detail how we may use your personal information.

2.1 Personalising Your Experience

on VIA ConnectWe may use information we collect about you to provide you with a personalised experience on VIA Connect, such as providing you with content in which you may be interested and making navigation on our sites easier.

2.2 Providing support

We may use your personal information to support products or services you have obtained from us, such as notifying you of a product update or fix.

2.3 Communication

The information you provide through VIA Connect, as well as the information we have collected about you indirectly, may be used by us to communicate with you. Before we do so, however, we will offer you the opportunity to choose whether or not to have your information used in this way. You may at any time choose not to receive communications from us by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each e-mail you may receive, by indicating so when we call you, or by contacting us directly (please refer to "CONTACT" below).

2.4 User content

Any content you post, such as pictures, information, opinions, or any other type of personal information that you make available to other participants VIA Connect is not subject to this Privacy Policy. 

Rather, such content is subject to the Terms of Use of VIA Connect, and any additional guidelines and privacy information provided in relation to their use. Please refer to them to better understand your, our, Chaordix’s and other parties' rights and obligations with regard to such content. You should be aware that the content you post on any such social computing platforms may be made broadly available to others inside and outside VIA University College.

2.5 Group Sharing and Protection of Rights

We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries. 

We may disclose your personal information to third parties:

a) in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;

b) if VIA University College or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets; or

c) if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements; or to protect our rights, property, or safety, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud prevention and credit risk reduction.

2.6 Sharing of personal information

In some cases, we may use suppliers located in various countries to collect, use, analyse, and otherwise process information on our behalf. It is our practice to require such suppliers to handle information in a manner consistent with these policies. 

From time to time, we may disclose information that identifies you at an individual level and which we collected on VIA Connect to other entities that are not acting as our suppliers, such as our business partners. Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we will only do so with your prior consent. We will not sell or lease such information.


3. Information security and accuracy

We intend to protect your personal information and to maintain its accuracy. VIA University College and Chaordix in partnership with VIA University College implement reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to help us protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use and disclosure.

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored in, Canada and other destinations outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of any orders, the processing of payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing and processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any such transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

6. Notification of changes

We will post a notice for 30 days at the top of this page notifying users when this Privacy Policy is updated or modified in a material way. If we are going to use your personal information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you, and you will have a choice as to whether or not we can use your personal information in such a way.


7. Your Rights

You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will inform you (usually before collecting your data) if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes on the forms we use to collect your data. You can also exercise the right at any time by contacting us at

You have the right to access information held about you. You have the right to object against our processing, and to ask us to change, block or delete wrong or misleading information. Further you may file a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency.


8. Contact

If you would like to access review, correct, update, change or delete your personal information simply log into your account and make the necessary changes. If you wish to close your account or account profile information altogether, please contact us. Your profile and personal information will be cleared. Your display name will be changed to something non-identifiable and will still appear next to any other content you may have created on the site but it will not be traceable to you by any users on the system. An email will be sent to you to confirm that your personal information has been deleted. We will also retain logs, demographic, indirect, and statistical information that may relate to you but do not identify you personally. If your personal information was previously accessed by others, we are not able to delete the information or copies thereof from their systems.

If you previously opted to receive newsletters, commercial e-mails or other communications from us or third parties, but subsequently change your mind, you may opt-out by editing your account profile as described above. If you previously opted not to receive such communications, you may later opt-in by editing your account profile.
